Pilates on Main: Pilates for Everyone

Created by Joseph Pilates, the Pilates method is a system of exercises designed to strengthen the muscles in the elongated state. With the focus on creating a strong and flexible core, Pilates improves muscle control, coordination, and strength.

Originally developed to help immobilized patients in WWI, Pilates gained popularity when Joseph moved to the Unites States and set up his studio across from the New York City Ballet. Because of its diverse history, Pilates is now favored by athletes of all sorts as well as the medical community for issues ranging from the rehabilitation of injuries to the treatment of chronic back pain and neurological conditions.

One of the great things about Pilates, is the flexibility of it. Pilates workouts can be adapted to fit just about any need or goal. Utilizing mat work, special apparatus, and a bevy of qualified and caring trainers, Pilates on Main is well equipped to help clients meet those needs and attain their goals. Owner and skilled instructor, Sue Swensen has a deep passion and commitment for her studio and helping others in their fitness goals. The best part of teaching Pilates Sue says, “is the interaction with the client and the satisfaction of seeing the client progress in their practice of the Method.”

Pilates on Main is a unique and functional studio, aiming to create a positive environment in which clients individual concerns and needs can be heard and addressed. There are a multitude of options for anyone seeking to improve their quality of life and fitness level. These options range from private sessions to group classes at all levels. For more information, contact Sue Swensen at (435) 680-7163 or check them out at www.bodybalancebysue.com. The caring and professional staff are ready to help.

Note: I have been doing Pilates with Sue and her staff since September and I love it! It has made a

difference in my body. I didn't know much about Pilates before and now I “are” one. Make sure to

check them out and make your New Year body better....Michael Forrest, LMT
